Assistant Director of Public Works

Job Summary

Assists the Director of Public Works to manage, supervise, plan, and coordinate the personnel, operations, projects, budget and activities of the City’s Public Works Department - Divisions of Traffic, Streets, and Stormwater; oversees municipal construction, maintenance, and operation projects; develops and administers departmental planning and programming; serves as a member of the City’s Management Team; represents the City to outside agencies and within the community; and supervises assigned personnel.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 60 hours toward a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, or related field is required. Successful candidate will be required to complete the degree within 5 years.

  • Five (5) years progressively responsible closely related experience, including three (3) years supervisory and managerial experience is required.

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Designation as a Texas Licensed Professional Engineer is desirable.

  • Experience in traffic, streets, and drainage maintenance and operations.
